We took a trip to the new Softbank showroom in Omotesando and were blown away by the sheer number of different phones and colors they now carry. We’re suckers for cute when it comes to Japanese phones, and weren’t disappointed at all with the new Hello Kitty Edition of the 707SC. Studded with shiny Swarovski crystal, the Hello Kitty 707SC may just light up a room (literally) when you whip it out.
There were several other Swarovski covered models as well, which is in tune with the general trend of putting Swarovski on, well, just about anything. In most cases, however, the crystals are simply purchased from the company and then used to decorate items like t-shirts, belts, lighters, wallets, hats, and, well…anything that has surface area!

I’ve just published your post and listed your site in my blog on the Hello Kitty Swavorski crystal….how much in U.S. dollars do you know? I’m just curious. I know Hello Kitty is really popular in Japan and still fairly popular her for the under 5 set, pretty much although this may kick it up into tween heaven. Is that the market they are going for or the Paris Hilton’s of the world, cause I just posted this as maybe being a Paris Hilton joke. Since my 19 year old just lost her key in her car…got overcharged on her basic oil change, she won’t be getting one anytime soon. But really who will be the market for this? Curious minds in America want to know. Thanks for such a terrific blog!

Just about any woman or girl in Japan who likes cute things, which is…well….just about every woman or girl in Japan. That’s an overstatement of course, but there’s definitely a huge market for phones in this style, not necessarily with Hello Kitty, but Swarovski is a big deal here as of late.
